Privacy Policy

The short version: Your uploaded files are processed entirely in-memory and are never saved to disk. We don't create accounts, store personal data, or sell anything. Files are automatically purged from memory within 45 minutes.

1. Files You Upload

When you upload a PDF or other document to PDFKro, it is:

  • Held in server memory only during processing — never written to disk.
  • Associated with a temporary, anonymous session ID generated by your browser.
  • Automatically purged from memory after 45 minutes of inactivity or when the session ends.
  • Never shared with any third party except as required to provide AI features (see Section 4).

2. Data We Collect

PDFKro collects no personal information. There are:

  • No user accounts or sign-up flows.
  • No cookies other than strictly necessary session identifiers.
  • No tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or behavioural profiling.
  • No email addresses, names, or payment information collected or stored.

We may receive standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL) as part of normal hosting operations. These are not linked to your uploads and are not retained beyond 7 days.

3. How We Use Data

The only uses of any data are:

  • Processing your uploaded file to provide the requested tool output (merge, convert, edit, etc.).
  • Sending file text to the Mistral AI API to fulfil AI tool requests (AI PDF Editor, AI Chatbot).
  • Serving the website and its assets.

4. Third-Party AI Services

PDFKro's AI features (AI PDF Editor, AI PDF Chatbot) send extracted text from your document to the Mistral AI API. This is necessary to generate AI responses. Mistral AI may process this text according to their own privacy policy. We recommend not uploading documents containing sensitive personal data when using AI features.

5. Local Storage & Caching

Some features (e.g. AI PDF Chatbot session restore) use your browser's localStorage to cache data on your own device. This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly share it. You can clear it at any time from within the tool or via your browser settings.

6. Your Rights

Because we do not store personal data or create accounts, most formal data-subject rights (access, erasure, portability) are satisfied by default — there is nothing to erase or retrieve. If you believe data about you exists, contact us at the address below and we will investigate within 30 days.

7. External Links

Blog posts and tool pages may contain links to external websites. PDFKro is not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a revised date. Continued use of PDFKro constitutes acceptance of the current policy.
